BIO
Charlie Harper is a composer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, instructor, and music producer with over seventeen years of experience. Starting his music education at the age of 12 and touring the world at the age of 17, Harper has performed live with bands signed to major labels such as Warner Brothers, Island Def Jam, and Columbia Records. In addition, he has an impressive list of artist collaborations and has provided direct support for big-name acts such as Tove Lo, Imagine Dragons, The 1975, ZZ Ward, and many others. He has also appeared on the Late Late Show with James Corden.
Having received musical training from superb musicians throughout the US, including Houston, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, and from Berklee College of Music, Harper is well-versed in many styles from rock to country to Latin jazz. As a top-rated instructor of drums, bass, piano, and sound recording, he teamed up with the Band-Aid School of Music in Austin, TX, where he now works with students of all ages, inspiring them with his passion for music. A prolific digital composer, Harper has been solicited to contribute to many projects, including podcasts. He works now as executive editor for the likes of The University of Texas at Austin, developing material, critically editing content, and providing original music for every aspect of each episode for their globally downloaded podcasts. He continues to maintain multiple musical collaborations with Austin area talent while performing live almost daily. In addition to creative pursuits, Harper has developed his own instructional method book for beginning percussion students to address some of the clarity issues of other materials currently on the market. Harper maintains a packed schedule, creating, producing, teaching in English and Spanish, and performing but occasionally he takes a breather to read a book or two.
